Medicare 5-star Plan Special Enrollment

What is a 5-star Medicare Plan?

In an effort to obtain higher and higher quality care for Medicare recipients, each Medicare plan is now rated on performance based on information obtained from plans, health care providers and recipient surveys. Each plan receives a star rating between 1 and 5 stars. A 5-star rating is the highest rating a plan can receive. The ratings are updated each year before the Annual Enrollment period begins to help consumers make the best choices regarding the quality of care they are purchasing.

You Can Join a 5-Star Medicare Plan Anytime

Not only does a 5-star Medicare plan give you the highest quality care based on government and consumer ratings, but you can also join one at any time. As a reward for reaching the highest quality care, 5-star plans are allowed to open up their enrollment period to year round. So while you may have to wait until Annual Enrollment to change your plan otherwise, if you select a 5-star plan, you could change plans today. This is a great option if you’re fed up with your current plan, would just like something new, or have missed the boat on the Annual Enrollment Period (Oct 15 – Dec 7), a 5-star plan may be your answer.

Medicare plans with a 5-star rating are limited, so check to see if one’s available in your area
